WEA ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY WALKSPROGRAMME
2005/06 PROGRAMME. · The general theme for the 2005/06 Programme is Old Route Ways. · During the walks you should use the appropriate Dark or White Peak map and your compass. · Also your notebook and camera to record what you see and learn. Please keep a record of what you
have learned each
week to help the WEA do well in any ALI inspection. The main aims of the course in addition to finding out more about Old Route Ways are to: 1. Improve your use of maps. 2. Learn more about present and past land use, geology, geomorphology. and the weather and climate. 3. Discuss environmental issues. 4. Enjoy your walking and learning. 5. Contribute to discussions and comment on things you find interesting. 6. Suggest other interesting walks and, if you feel you can, plan and lead a walk. 7.
Please be ready to start walking promptly at 10 am. <>Programme dates for Autumn 2005 > (Notice of changes will be given to all group members.)
Please note that the
programme cannot run
with less than ten signed up members. Unless prior notice is
given all
walks are on Thursday morning. They start at 10 a.m. prompt
and
finish about 2 p.m. with a snack break about noon. To safeguard your
own
health and safety you must have suitable clothing and footwear and
something to
keep you dry. You also need appropriate 1:25000 Ordnance
Survey maps
and a compass. (Useful maps are O.S. Outdoor Leisure 1
(Dark Peak),
[DP], the 24 (White Peak) [WP}, and The Peak District
1 to
